H Street Blues from Joe Newman on Vimeo.
Danny’s is this sketchy looking convience store/takeout place on H Street. The food is marginal but it’s open late and one of the few places on the street that serves food after midnight. Something about the place must inspire people to sing because this is the second time in a month that I’ve seen someone break out a halfway decent performance.
This Friends of the Earth video is both a great explanation of what is happening to climate legislation in Congress and an homage to the old School House Rock segments that aired on Saturday mornings in the 70s. Though, a Google search shows that they brought the concept back a few times in the 90s and just this year. Here’s an excerpt of the lyrics from the “Just the Energy Bill”:
Oh man. Hey Bill, what the hell happened? You look like $#!%!
Oh it was awful! They took out some of my very best parts Billy, and they inserted some language in there that frankly, I’m not too proud of. Now, I undermine the Clean Air Act, give away billions to polluters, and my carbon offsets clause is just a fancy way of letting dirty coal pay to pollute.
I’m just a bill, a lonely energy bill. Need a friend up here on Capitol Hill. It’s not too late to save me from these greedy corporations. Folks need real hope and change all across the nation. We’re all counting on a kick-ass law. How I hope and pray that you will raise some hell for this energy bill!
Here’s what I want to know: How does Heather Graham get such a big head start on these fatties and not blow them out?

White Rabbits, D.C. from Joe Newman on Vimeo.
I love my new Flip Video recorder. It takes great Hi-Def video and, surprsingly, does very well in the sound department. This is my roommates and I checking out the White Rabbits at the Rock & Roll Hotel on H Street in the District.

Is it real or is it staged? On my first viewing, it seemed genuine enough but then I started to have my doubts. Who has an office arranged like that?
