The Million Mask March: Face off in DC
Election night came and went and, despite the political upheaval across the country, life in Washington, DC went on as usual the next day. In this city, a few hundred protestors wearing masks, carrying signs, waving flags and chanting slogans is pretty much an everyday event.
The protestors came out on the Fifth of November, known as Guy Fawkes Day, for what has been dubbed the “Million Mask March.” The protest is part of a global day of demonstrations backed by the hacker collective Anonymous.
It also marked the beginning of a new project. I’m planning to spend the next two years covering protests, rallies and other expressions of free speech. It seems fitting to start on the day after the election and end on Election Day 2016.
